Exploring the Slowdown of Time through Hand-Drawn Two-Dimensional Animation
The master’s thesis “Gait – Flow of Time” represents an exploration of the idea of slowing down time through the medium of 2D abstract animation. Through a meditative rhythm and the subtle repetition of a horse’s movement as it passes through landscapes, my aim was to create a piece that draws the viewer into a calm state of attention and reflection. This animation invites contemplation on the rhythm of modern life, offering a space to appreciate details, colors, and atmosphere. The creation process involved carefully planning each scene, drawing, sound design, and experimentation with elements of narration and visual poetry.
On this page, you can watch the full video, view selected frames from the animation, as well as photographs documenting the creative process – from the first sketches to the final realization.
If you decide to watch the following video, I kindly ask that you set aside several minutes in peace and quiet. Try to watch it in one breath, without interruptions, in an environment that allows you to fully surrender to its rhythm and atmosphere. That way, the piece will open to you to its deepest experience.
